Spindle Bed

Up until now, if you were to come visit me and stay overnight in my home, you would probably sleep on a twin mattress covered in laundry and important paperwork or on a couch in my living room. Its amazing to me that my new home has an extra bedroom for guests. This is a first for me. I've been thinking about what kind of bed frame I'd like to have. I want something comfortable yet structured, old fashioned yet modernized. I want something that reminds me of my childhood bedroom, but without the Muppet sheet set and Barbie dolls shoved under the covers suffocating silently at the end of the bed. Then I happened upon the photo below:

I'm sure I can find an old spindle bed on Craig's List or in a consignment shop. Wouldn't it look fantastic with a fresh coat of white or turquoise or red paint? My list of future acquisitions keeps getting longer, but I will definitely keep and eye out for an old spindle bed. Maybe it will look something like this:

The Stenographic Pool

I adore an old typewriter. I've got one that sits on a shelf in my living room. I save it for poetry, art projects and love letters.

Orange Chair

When Anthropologie came out with the "Astrid Chair" in this orange print, I about fell over. I loved it. I still love it. If I could afford one, I would go out right now to Anthropologie (maybe a 24-hour Anthropologie for junkies) and buy it without hesitation. I know that I could find an older style chair and reupholster with some orange print fabric, but my crazy consumer head says, "I want THIS exact chair!" Here's a photo of my girl:

I really like the idea of having a happy punch of orange in my living room, even if its not my beloved Astrid Chair. Here are some groovy alternative options:

Hi Mom.

Mom, I found these inspiring photos at Design Sponge and since you're hard at work re-doing your potting shed, I thought you might enjoy them. And for my other dear readers, thank you for putting up with personal notes to my mom and please enjoy the super-duper pretty photos below.

Paper Browsing

Stumbled on this little gem of a website while browsing wallpapers for my entryway. Its called Wallpaper From the 70's and it is the bomb.

Good morning!

No musings today. Just this awesome bathroom.

Hearthside Storytelling

Most people only think of decorating their mantels during holidays, while the rest of the year its simply a dusting hazard. The mantel is like a little family altar where you can stow and showcase meaningful objects that represent the residents of the home. I love a mantel covered with lovely little doodads. And don't be afraid to change it up - its the perfect place for photos, stoneware, candles, statuary, plants, feathers, findings, artwork and more.

The mantle below belongs to Amy at Sweet Sweet Life.

And here is a peek at my own mantle.

Beam Me Up

Our new place has wood beams in the communal living space.
Love the wood against the white!
I'm so excited I might pee.

I'm making something for you.

Translation? "Open for business." After much humming and hawing, I've decided to open a shop on Etsy! I've been doing a lot of sewing and crafting this past year, creating gifts for friends and goodies for my family. (Remeber this? And this? And this?) I've had so much fun that I want to expand my repertoire. So here I go! MaisonBoheme on Etsy carries bohemian, handmade style for you, your home and your wee ones. I'm starting small and plan to add more product each week. So check it out and stay tuned!

Going Gray Part 2

I love this paint color so much. It's quite a bit darker than the grays I posted before. I love it paired with white. We're considering this color for our bedroom in the new house!
